WELCOME TO

Please scroll down this page for information about our groups, courses, and drop-in sessions.

Supporting your child with additional well-being needs can be really tough. It can leave us, as parents and carers, feeling frustrated, alone, embarrassed, ashamed and a host of other big emotions.

Research shows that if parents and carers can maintain their well-being, children will feel better supported and heard, which helps with their recovery.

Calm Connections supports parents and carers in looking after themselves, helping them better manage their children’s well-being or mental health challenges with a calmer approach.

eMerge is a Calm Connections Initiative that provides parent and carer support in Trafford, HMR (Heywood, Middleton, and Rochdale), and Greater Manchester.

Calm Connections and eMerge, staff and volunteers, are all parents and carers with lived experience of supporting our children through mental health experiences and crises. We work in partnership with CAMHS and other professionals to support you at all stages of your journey.

Support Groups

We offer monthly online and face-to-face support groups that our parent lead or parent mentors run. These groups provide a space to talk about and share experiences with issues led by parents and carers.

Our monthly online groups meet from 6.30 to 8.00 pm on the second Wednesday of each month. We provide a safe space to share challenges and experiences and explore themes such as anxiety, eating challenges, exam stress, barriers to attending school, etc.

One-to-One Support

Our experienced Parent Leads offer up to eight weeks of one-to-one support. After this, you will be encouraged to attend one of our support groups.

Our Parent and Carer Mentors are matched to you because they have been through similar challenges. They can work with you for up to 3 months. Mentors provide weekly support through a listening ear and sharing experiences.

Contact us to get support from our Parent Lead in Trafford, Rachelle.

Contact us to receive support from our Parent Leads, Jen and Lou, in Rochdale, Middleton, and Heywood.

Colourful Speech bubbles contain words that explain our ethos: Welcome, Be kind, It's OK not to share, Be respectful, be mindful of other ears, your voice matters, listen, offer support if needed, what is said in the session stays in the session.
